Nokia Sugar Bowl Marathon Information
The 2009 Mardi Gras Marathon is proud to announce that the race will start and finish at the Louisiana Superdome. After a massive post-Katrina cleanup and a $182,000,000.00 renovation to the building, the Superdome will once again be the showcase for this run through history. Enjoy a marathon and half-marathon in one of the most exciting and historic cities in the USA. The New Orleans Track Club and Premier Event Management encourage everyone to come run with us and be a part of the city's continuing rejuvenation.
Our course takes you thru the picturesque French Quarter, Esplanade Ridge, Bayou St. John, Garden District, Uptown, and Audubon Park. The course is flat and fast, no need for an elevation map here. Since New Orleans is below sea level, with the exception of one overpass, you're below sea-level the entire time on the course. The exciting finish is right in front of the world famous Louisiana Superdome, host of the Allstate Sugar Bowl and numerous NFL Super Bowls. You'll be the champion on Feb 24th!
At this time the New Orleans Track Club would like to announce that through fund raising efforts and your generosity, the 2006 Mardi Gras Marathon was able to raise over $30,000.00 for local recovery efforts in the Greater New Orleans Area. We ask that you join us again as our fundraising efforts continue at the 2008 Mardi Gras Marathon. If you plan to run, walk or just hang out, please join us again in the rebuilding efforts of our city.
